Brief Description: Firearms Qualification for Retired Law Enforcement Officers

Full Description: This event is designed for retired Law Enforcement Officers to complete their annual firearm qualification, as mandated by the Law Enforcement Officer Safety Act.

This event is included in the LET Summer Firearms schedule.

LET will provide 9mm, 40 S&W, and 45 ACP. If available, 38 Special may be provided.

Upon the successful completion of this course of fire, LET will provide the retiree with a card certifying their completion.

The Course of Fire is the South Dakota Handgun Qualification Course. It is on the Attorney General's Law Enforcement Training website, under Forms and Applications.

There is a fee for this course. As of 2025, the cost is $75. It is subject to change.

Resources Required: Shooters will provide their weapon, holster, and eye and ear protection. Shooters should also provide personal protection from the environmental conditions.
