Brief Description: 80-hour Basic Police Motorcycle Operator Course held by Sioux Falls Police Department.

Full Description: This 80-hour course is for new Police Motorcycle Officers to prepare them for the operation of police motorcycles in an enforcement and traffic control environment. At the conclusion of training, each participant will be able to safely operate a police motorcycle in enforcement and traffic control duties on public roadways and off-road conditions. There is no charge for the course. Students will be responsible for making their own lodging arrangements. Lodging and per diem will be reimbursed at the state rate. Students for this course do need to furnish their own motorcycle. The “Operator” course is not a beginner’s course and is designed for officers who have previous riding skills. Departments that would like to certify new officers or start a new Motor Program are encouraged to contact Officer Evan Larson to register for the class or for more information. Class size limited to six students. Additional applications will be added to the wait list as received.
