This course is designed to develop instructors with the role and deployment of the Law Enforcement shotgun with both; Lethal (buckshot and slugs) and Less Lethal impact munitions.

It will include, both classroom and range drills, on the following topics; Purpose/ history/ deployment and use of shotgun munitions (Buckshot, Slugs, Birdshot and most less lethal munitions designed for the 12-gauge shotgun), training progarms, deployment considerations, tactics, firearms safety, marksmanship fundamentals, shotgun handling techniques, coaching, range organization, lesson plans, training aids, developing practical shotgun and less lethal range training, legal considerations, cover/concealment, close quarter engagements, movement shooting.

On the range we will conduct both dry and live fire drills from: 0 to 50 yards. Student Instructor will design, document and run a practical range exercise during the class.   The daily schedule  and proficiency standards will be subject to minor changes depending on needs of the class and range.

Resources Required
Any 12-gauge Shotgun with a cylinder or improved cylinder bore with a sling.  It can be either a pump or semi-auto designed for law enforcement use; Remington 870/1187, Mossberg 500/590/940, Beretta A300/1301, Benelli M1/M2/M4 series ,etc.

Note: The Shotguns can be a standard un-marked LE shotgun or specifically marked for “Less Lethal”. Bringing one of each example would be ideal but not necessary to complete the class.
Cleaning gear for the shotgun (a must)

LET will supply:  250 rounds of birdshot, 25 rounds of buckshot, 25 slugs for shotgun . 100 rounds of handgun practice ammunition (9mm Luger, .40 SW or .45 ACP).

2 rounds of dummy ammunition, per student (I will supply if needed)
Shotgun shell carry system – dump pouch, looped ammo belt, bandolier, etc.   Side saddles are ok, but the student must be able to carry additional shells on the person

AGENCY MUST SUPPLY:  30 rds of the Less Lethal munition expected to be used by the agency (Recommend; Def-Tec Drag Stabilized Baton, CTS Super Sock, ALS Triton Drag Stabilized Bean Bag)

Duty Handgun, Normal duty belt, holster, mag pouch and support gear, Three magazines, minimum,  and Duty Flashlight.
