Full Description
The primary objectives of this training are to improve investigative effectiveness, reduce risk, and enhance the defensibility of interviews. Upon completion of the course, participants will be able to:
• Demonstrate increased use of science-based, information-gathering interview techniques rather than accusatory or pseudoscientific methods.
• Apply structured question architecture and funnel questioning to maximize accurate and complete information.
• Utilize rapport-building and active listening strategies that measurably increase cooperation and information yield.
• Implement Strategic Use of Evidence (SUE) techniques to elicit reliable statements while minimizing confirmation bias and information loss.
• Apply Cognitive Interviewing methods to improve memory retrieval, temporal sequencing, and spatial recall from victims and witnesses.
• Reduce investigative errors related to bias, false assumptions, and unreliable credibility assessments.
These objectives are measurable through observed performance in scenarios, participant self-assessments, and post-course evaluations.
